today.paris is a free tool with no account. This page explains, in plain language, what the site does — and does not do — with your data.

2. What the site never asks you for
- No account, no password.
- No sign-up form.
- No banking details.
3. Your geographic position
If you click "Use my location," your browser asks for permission. Your exact position stays in your browser. To compose a proposal around you, a position rounded to about 110 metres (three decimals) is sent to today.paris, which answers with the nearby open places and points; it is neither stored nor logged. Only the public centre point of the chosen arrondissement (far coarser than your real position) may be kept on your device to resume your search later (see next section).
4. Storage on your device (never transmitted)
The site uses your browser's local memory ("localStorage" and "sessionStorage"), never a tracking cookie. This information stays on your device and is never sent to a server:
- Your current search (area, duration, budget, mood): kept for 6 hours, to resume your search if you reload the page.
- Your "passport" of completed adventures: kept indefinitely on this device, with no account and no location data, until you clear it.
- A technical flag for the tab's first visit, used only for the audience measurement described below.
You can clear this information at any time from your browser settings ("clear site data").
5. Audience measurement
Two measurement tools, neither building an individual profile:
- Cloudflare Web Analytics: a cookieless visit counter, provided by our host (see its documentation at cloudflare.com/web-analytics/).
- Our own counter (a small program we host ourselves on Cloudflare): it adds up anonymous events (page views, screens viewed, journey steps) with no identifier, no retained IP address and no cookie. Only totals and day-by-day breakdowns are kept, for at most 120 days for the daily detail; there is no individual log of your browsing.
6. Third-party services called by your browser
Some site features query outside services directly from your browser:
- api.open-meteo.com — weather near you: a point rounded to about 1 km (two decimals), never your exact position.
- calendrier.api.gouv.fr — official public holidays (no data sent).
- opendata.paris.fr — Vélib' bike availability near the last stop of your route (that place's public coordinates, never your position).
- basemaps.cartocdn.com — map background.
- upload.wikimedia.org — photos of places.
- widget.getyourguide.com — booking module, loaded only after an explicit click; once loaded, this third-party module may set its own cookies, per GetYourGuide's privacy policy (getyourguide.com).
Like any server on the Internet, each of these services can see your IP address at the moment of the request: this is a technical mechanism outside today.paris's control.
7. Cookies
today.paris itself sets no cookies. Our host, Cloudflare, may set technical cookies needed for network security (bot protection): see its privacy policy at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/.
8. Your rights
The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) gives you the right to access, correct, and erase your data, and to object to its processing. Since today.paris keeps no user account, most information about you stays on your own device and you can erase it yourself (see section 4). For anything else, write to us via the Contact page.
