Where the street names come from
- rue Bachaumont — Louis Petit de Bachaumont (1690-1771), man of letters.
- passage Ben-Aïad — Mr Ben-Aïad, owner.
- rue d'Aboukir — Victory won in Egypt by the French army (1799); near the place du Caire.
- rue d'Argout — D'Argout (1782-1858), politician, minister and governor of the Banque de France.
- rue d'Uzès — Laid out on the site of the Hôtel d'Uzès.
- rue de la Jussienne — Jussienne, an alteration of Egyptienne; there was in this street a chapel dedicated to sainte Marie l'Egyptienne.
- rue de Mulhouse — A town in Alsace famous for its factories; a commercial district.
- rue des Jeûneurs — Alteration of rue des Jeux Neufs; it owed this name to the games that had just been set up there near the rampart of the Louis XIII wall, when the street was laid out (17th century).
